Nowadays, the internet has become the primary source to find information. But what about the contemporary art scene? People interested in art can choose online between a variety of information providers who offer prices and classifications of artists and their output. In particular, online databases are used as art market information tools. They reveal market-based changes which might influence our decision and rating behavior. But which information and rating systems are actually used by members of the contemporary art scene?
The "Contemporary Art Research Project" looks into these issues. The chair of Communication and Media Management from the University of Kassel (Germany) explores the information behavior of different art market stakeholders.
The survey is completed. A detailed reporting on the results will follow soon.
