This year the theme of AXA ART's participation at TEFAF was "Passion and Patronage: Corporate Collecting Today".
International art experts and art lovers met in the AXA ART Lounge during the fair and for a top-class program of events and discussions.
Throughout the fair, important art works from AXA’s international corporate collection were on display in the AXA ART Lounge. These included works by Gerhard Richter, Jacob Lawrence, Rupprecht Geiger, Adolph Lutter, Alex Katz and Fabio Viale. The works on view in the AXA ART Lounge attracted a large audience , clearly enthusiastic about the AXA collection. "The theme of art," explained Kai Kuklinski, Global CEO of AXA ART, "plays an important role in AXA ART's corporate culture, not only as an element of our insurance business, but also as a source of inspiration and intellectual stimulation in our places of work."

Museum Directors Reception
At the Museum Directors’ Reception on March 10th, Kai Kuklinski, Global CEO of AXA ART, and Sjarel Ex, Director of the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum, invited guests to visit the Collecting Collectors exhibition, which was part of the TEFAF Paper section. This year visitors were able to view works on loan from the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam. Among these were works by Fra Bartolommeo, Albrecht Dürer and Rembrandt, and modern pieces by Cézanne and Dali.

AXA ART again took the occasion of TEFAF to assemble a group of international art experts to discuss current art topics The conversation between Dr. Lisa Zeitz, publisher of WELTKUNST, and Patrick van Maris, the new CEO of TEFAF, provided insight into the fascinating behind-the-scenes operations of an international art fair. It was an excellent opportunity for Mr. Van Maris to share his ideas and plans for the future direction of TEFAF.”

Corporate Curators Forum
The Corporate Curators’ Forum was the setting for a discussion on trends and strategies in corporate collecting. This event in the AXA ART Lounge, chaired by Dr. Florian Langenscheidt, gave the audience insights into the many aspects of institutional collecting. The participants were Friedrich Conzen jr., Conzen Fine Art Services, Sanne ten Brink, Head Curator of the ING Collection, Martine Schepers, Curator of AXA’s Corporate Collection in Brussels, and Jeremy Johnston, Corporate Collection Curator at AXA US.
