Our business is based on trust. As an insurance company, the protection of the personal data of our policyholders is very important. We therefore comply with all applicable data protection laws regulations. We constantly strive to improve data protection.

1. On what basis do we process your data

1.1 Legal regulations

AXA ART processes your personal data from a legal foundation and, if necessary, on the basis of your consent. The most data protection regulation that came into force from 25th May 2018 it the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR). We also observe all other relevant legal requirements, in particular those of the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the Insurance Contract Act (VVG).

1.2 Beyond the legal standard: Certified Code of Conduct and Binding Corporate Rules

Since the protection of your data is very important to us, our protection extends beyond the legally required standards. The following AXA companies

joined the "Code of Conduct for the Handling of Personal Data by the German Insurance Industry" from 01st January 2014.

They all have committed to comply with additional binding codes of conduct agreed with the data protection supervisory authorities of the federal states by the German Insurance Association eV (GDV), which has been certified by the State Data Protection Inspectorate in Berlin.

This reduces the processing of personal data of our insurance companies and at the same time significantly increases the transparency of data processing. In addition, the AXA Group has introduced a mandatory corporate policy worldwide (the ”Binding Corporate Rules”), approved by the European supervisory authorities, which forms the basis of data processing within the Group and, in particular, data transfers within the AXA Group worldwide.

This policy a consistent and high level of data protection even with the processing of data by AXA ART companies based outside the EU. 2. Data protection information for visiting the website "AXA-ART.com"

Transparency is an important component of a trust-based-relationship. Therefore, we would like to inform you in the following points about the processing of your personal data when visiting our website “AXA-ART.com” including its sub-pages as well as your rights and ways of contacting us, in accordance with the relevant legal requirements, in particular the EU-GDPR.

Legal basis for processing & legitimate interests upon which the processing is based
Processing occurs normally due to our legitimate interests in accordance with Art. 6 para 1 sentence 1 letter f of the EU-GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to operate a website for promotional purposes of AXA ART, and for general information and communication.
When you just visit our website to initiate an insurance contract with us (for example, to obtain information about contractual terms and conditions), the legal basis for the processing of your data is instead Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 letter b) of the EU-GDPR (Initiation and execution of a contract).

2.3 Cookies

When visiting the websites of AXA ART, so-called "Cookies" are also stored on your computer depending on the section you are in. "Cookies" are small text files in which the provider of an Internet site stores data that are relevant for, e.g. to facilitate browsing of the site or to improve the user experience.

We use Generally required cookies (session cookies) for the general use of our website.

Session cookies store the information that is used during your current browser session. These cookies are automatically deleted when you close the browser.

We use Generally required cookies (session cookies) for the general use of our website. In this way certain actions performed by the user are saved. These cookies are necessary for a functional navigation on the website and for the use of certain website functions. It will make it easier for you as a user to visit our website - as you can make the most of the various sections on our website.

Data protection legal basis for processing & legitimate interests up on which the processing is based

Our legitimate interest is to operate a website with appropriate functionality for advertising purposes and for general information and communication purposes as well as to present AXA ART.

2.4 External services

External services help us to statistically evaluate and improve the use of our website.  We would like to introduce this to you so that you can decide on whether you agree to such an evaluation.

2.4.1 Goolge Analytics

AXA ART uses various tools by Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; “Google”), one of these is ‘Google Analytics’, a web based analytics service. Google Analytics uses ‘cookies’, which are text files placed on your computer that enable an analysis of your use of our website and online services. The information generated by a cookie is generally transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the United States.

IP-anonymisation is activated on this website, so Google will truncate the IP address of users within Member States of the European Union or other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area before the data is transferred.

Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the United States and truncated there. On behalf of the operator of our website, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating users’ use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing the website operator with other services relating to website and Internet use.

Legal grounds: Art. 6 paragraph 1 point (f) EU GDPR. Our legitimate interest is justified by the opportunity to analyse usage and therefore to improve the website.


Your rights

The IP address transmitted by your browser within the scope of Google Analytics will not be associated with any other data held by Google. 3. Your rights as an affected party

If our companies have processed personal data, you have the right to the following to the extent allowed by law:

  • Information, in particular about the data stored by the controller and their processing purposes (Art. 15 EU-GDPR)
  • Amendment of incorrect or incomplete data (Art. 16 EU-GDPR)
  • Deletion, either of unlawfully processed or unnecessary data (Art. 17 EU-GDPR)
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18 EU-GDPR)
  • Objection to processing, in particular if this is done to fulfil the legitimate interests of the controller (Art. 21 EU-GDPR) and
  • Data transmission, if the processing is based on provision of consent, or for the execution of a contract, or by means of automated procedures (Art. 20 EU-GDPR)

If processing is based on the provision of your consent (Article 6 (1) (a) or Article 9 (2) (a)), you then have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. The legality of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent before your revocation remains affected.

5.1 Communication via E-Mail

5.2 Information on data processing within the context of the insurance relationship

5.2.1 Service provider list

5.2.2 Current data protection declaration for your insurance contract

Further information on the specific use of your personal data can be found in the insurance applications of AXA ART.

If AXA ART intends to process your personal data for a purpose other than the one for which your personal data was originally collected, we will inform you to the extent required by law.

5.4 Offer form

In our offer forms you can find out about our insurance conditions and benefits, as well as conclude an insurance contract or make an application to conclude an insurance contract. To clarify which services and at what price we can offer you on our respective product, we must evaluate insurance premium relevant data provided about you or any other persons in your offer form.

The legal basis for the processing of your personal data entered into offer forms is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 letter b) of the EU GDPR. Furthermore, the possible processing of special categories of personal data shall take place on the basis of your express consent (Article 9 para 1, 2, letter a) of the EU GDPR). This will be obtained before any processing is carried out.

5.5 Contact form

When you contact us via our contact form or the quick access contact form, the personal data you have provided will be processed to deal with your request. Under certain circumstances, the data will be forwarded by us to the agency selected by you or a supervisor of this agency, to enable you to communicate directly. The exact content and purpose of the communication is determined by the message content you sent.

This shall be followed by the processing of your message data by us and, if applicable, subsequently by an agency. This is usually for the purposes of initiating or executing an insurance contract in accordance with Art. 6 para 1 sentence 1 letter b) of the EU-GDPR or on the basis of legitimate interests (an answer to your request) in accordance with Art. 6 para 1 sentence 1 letter f) of the EU-GDPR. 

Unfortunately, we or the respective supervisor cannot process your request without processing the data you have entered.
Under certain circumstances, we will transfer your personal data to the independent insurance agency or responsible supervisor selected by you in the address field. They will then process the data, forward it to internal recipients, or other companies of the AXA Group as appropriate to answer your enquiry. The agency will inform you separately about any additional recipients.

Storage time
Your personal data will only be stored for the duration of the processing of your request.
